HAGERSTOWN - An exotic bird, grandparents flying to see their grandchildren's football tournament and the president of the Washington County Commissioners were among the passengers Friday night on the inaugural Allegiant Air flight from Hagerstown Regional Airport to Orlando, Fla. "My wife is taking me to Florida on her credit card," Commissioners President John F. Barr said Friday night during a brief ceremony before the flight.

Two charged with animal abuse
MARTINSBURG, W.VA. - Two Martinsburg residents are accused of abusing a pit bull that was found chained in the attic of a home with open wounds on its nose and mouth, which authorities said Friday had been duct taped shut to keep it from barking. Randall Craig Siford Jr., 34, and Breshannon Leslie Deveraux, 33, both of 252 E. Burke St., were charged with felony counts of animal cruelty, according to police and Berkeley County Magistrate Court records.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Competition could be heated in high school basketball this season, particularly for tickets to Chambersburg Trojans home games. With construction ongoing at Chambersburg Area Senior High School and the lobby being used as a weight room until a new gymnasium is completed, fire codes now limit seating to 1,000 fans.
